Green Onion Landscaping is a friendly, experienced team of garden fencing installers. Our skilled landscaping team can install boundary fences, security fencing, or decorative garden fencing for your property or business.

Garden fences have several uses in your garden:-

  • Divide one part of your garden from another.
  • A tall solid garden fence will provide privacy, shade, and shelter from the wind
  • Open construction such as slat panel fence will allow light and breezes through to your garden
  • Fences act as a barrier around the edge of your property
  • Keeping animals out, keeping children in
  • Shielding you from noise
  • Providing a decorative element in a garden during periods where no plants are growing.
  • Keeping out out unwanted visitors, dogs, cats, children, vandals, or criminals.
  • Garden fencing is your first line of defense against all manner of unwanted guests

Years ago if you lived in the Tees Valley, Teesside, and County Durham there were only a few options available to you if you wanted to put up a garden fence. You were limited in your choice of fence panels and wood colours. Even the style of the fence panels was similar and boring.  Thankfully this has all changed. In the past ten years, many new developments in garden fencing materials have given us a huge choice of colours and designs to choose from.

Close board timber garden fencing

For security, a good quality, high, close board fence is best. Close board garden fencing serves to prevent people from seeing through it. Close board fencing is very strong and much more resistant to weather or criminal damage. Green Onion Landscaping would always recommend that you install close board fencing when opting for a wooden/timber fence.

A close board fence consists of a series of upright fence posts joined together with two rows of arris rails. Arris rails are usually triangular in section to allow rain to run off. Feather edged boards are nailed to the arris rails overlapping one another for a solid boundary. All Green Onion Landscaping’s wooden fence boards are pressure treated with preservative.

Slat board panel garden fencing

Panel slat board fencing with overlapping slats in the fence boards is the standard, economic range of overlap fencing. Panel garden fencing prevents your neighbours seeing through to your property and provides an effective barrier. Panel fencing is not as resistant to weather damage. It can be broken easily by the wind or by criminals.

A solid well-erected timber garden fence will last for years. Always chose a garden fence that is steady and strong enough for the purpose you want to use it for. There is no reason why, with proper care and attention a solid, wooden fence shouldn’t last for many, many years.

The key to a good garden fence is to make an informed decision before you buy and employ a professional company to erect it for you. Green Onion Landscaping’s friendly team can advise on the best type of garden fencing for your garden. Our expert landscapers will erect your fence for you quickly and correctly.

Decorative garden fencing

If you want to add a long-lasting decorative element to your garden, a type of fencing which will allow things to climb up it, or will act as a support for some kind of shrub or creeper, then you need to think along the creative fencing lines. For example, a standard overlap fence panel with a trellis on the top (as above) will make an ideal climbing frame for plants like Ivy. That same fence will also provide an effective, immediate barrier against noise or other pests while you wait for your climbing plant to become established.

Trellis can also be erected as a stand-alone panel; while this doesn’t afford quite the level of protection that a standard panel fence will, it looks great on its own, even when the plant has died down for the Winter.  There are many beautiful designs of garden fence panels are available, all of which are relatively cheap and can be fitted almost anywhere in your garden.

Concrete fencing

Depending on just how secure you want your property to be and how much you care about the look of your garden fence. Concrete fencing panels are the ultimate in garden or property fencing security. Huge, heavy concrete panels sit in concrete posts. Concrete fencing provides incredible security, it is steel reinforced. They do not break easily. Concrete fences are expensive, heavy and must be fitted by an expert. The posts have to hold a massive amount of weight, so they must be fitted correctly. Green Onion Landscaping’s experts will do this for you. We will advise on ways to disguise the fence once it has been fitted too. The great thing about Concrete fences is that they require no maintenance at all and will last a lifetime.

Fence panel choices

  • Close board – The strongest and heaviest wooden panel fencing. Close board fencing offers complete privacy and is ideal for perimeter fencing.
  • Overlap – The most popular ‘cheap’ panel. Overlap type fence panels offer privacy at a very economical price
  • Palisade – This is the traditional picket type fence. While it offers little by way of privacy, Palisade gives excellent visibility and moderate security.
  • Trellis – This is not a fencing solution on its own, but it can be used as an open screen fence or as a decorative panel or fence panel topper.
  • Concrete – Solid concrete panels supported by concrete posts. Looks fairly ‘industrial’, but it is the ultimate for security and strength.
