This is a landscape design project that Green Onion Landscaping carried out for Mr and Mrs Osei in Darlington, Tees Valley. Daniella and her husband requested two large Indian Sandstone Patios with the added detail of a two-ring Indian circular patio.

Mr. & Mrs Osei requested an Alfresco dining area patio area in their garden. Green Onion Landscaping recommended that they use Indian Sandstone for their patio. Indian sandstone is the most economical of the natural stones. It comes in a variety of beautiful colours. The most popular colour being cream and grey. Sandstone has many different surface finishes: riven, (generally the most economical), sawn and textured.

Another great quality of sandstone is it has great slip resistance even when it is sawn smooth and wet. This is why it’s one of the most commonly chosen and used paving stones for landscaping in the U.K. Teesside and the Northeast.

Green Onion Landscaping chose plum slate to lay around the circular patio, the colour will enhance the circular sandstone patio area. A contrasting shade of slate always helps a new patio area stand out. Our team also added the detail of a pretty cobbled edge to the patios. Cobbled edging is great for defining the shape and also provides texture in landscapes. Cobbling a patio’s edge helps to enhance the two ring circular sandstone patio in this instance. You can clearly see that there are two separate sandstone patio areas in this garden design in Darlington.

Green Onion Landscaping also carried out some soft landscaping for Mr. & Mrs Osei. We supplied and planted Japanese Acers on the corners of the new sandstone circular patio. Japanese maples (Acer palmatum) are small, deciduous trees which are often grown for their graceful habit, autumn colour and beautiful foliage which may be coloured or deeply dissected. Japanese Acers grow extremely slowly and are perfect for a smaller garden like Mr. & Mrs Osei’s.

In a few years, the newly planted Japanese Acers will have matured and grown. Their beautiful red foliage will complement the plum slate and the beautiful golden tones in the Indian Sandstone patios. This is a very pretty landscape design in Darlington.

“Thank you Green Onion Landscaping for creating us a beautiful garden to dine with friends and enjoy the sun. We love it. Bellisimo!!!”
