Curved Decking and Garden Landscaping Project in Ingleby Barwick
This curved decking and garden landscaping project in Ingleby Barwick was carried out for Janine and Andy, who wanted to create a more attractive and practical outdoor space within their garden. Their existing garden was quite square in shape and lacked a clear focal point, so they asked Green Onion Landscaping to design and build a raised decking area that would introduce more shape and character to the garden.
The completed project included a raised timber decking area with decking lights, new sandstone paving, new turfed lawn and structural landscaping designed to improve the overall flow of the garden.
Raised Decking Area Creates a Garden Focal Point
The main feature of this landscaping project was the raised timber decking area. Positioned to make the most of the available space, the decking provides a practical area for outdoor seating, entertaining and relaxing throughout the year.
The shape of the decking follows the gentle curve created by the surrounding retaining wall and landscaping, helping to soften the appearance of the garden and create a more interesting layout. The finished decking area now forms a natural focal point and gives the garden far more structure than before.
Decking lights were fitted along the edge of the deck to provide subtle lighting during the evenings and help make the area more enjoyable after dark.
Landscaping and Paving Improvements
As part of the project, Green Onion Landscaping carried out additional landscaping work to complement the new timber decking area.
A curved retaining wall was constructed to support and define the raised deck, while sandstone steps were installed to provide safe and attractive access between the different levels of the garden.
An unused flower border was removed and prepared before new paving was laid to match the existing paving within the garden. This helped create a cleaner layout and improved the connection between the various areas of the garden.
Lawn Extension and Finishing Touches
The project also included lawn improvements to help create a more open and balanced garden.
An unused border alongside the lawn was removed, fresh topsoil was added and the area was levelled before new turf was laid. Extending the lawn helped create a cleaner appearance while making the garden feel larger and more usable.
The combination of raised decking, paving and lawn improvements transformed the overall appearance of the garden and provided Janine and Andy with a practical outdoor space that could be enjoyed throughout the year.
